who's dad is the best? MY DAD IS THE BEST.

today my post is dedicated to the most amazing dad in the world.  my very own.
Shawn Russell Athay

it's the day of his birth!
i am so lucky to have a daddy that is:
smart
funny
reliable
loving
handsome
helpful
sweet
supportive
full of personality
hardworking
friendly
outgoing
fun
a BSU fanatic
witty
family oriented
and the best example to our family.
I am so thankful for everything he does for me and for our family.
he is the best dad that I could imagine having and I feel so lucky and blessed that he is mine!

48 never looked so good!

p.s. I am sad that I'm not in Idaho to celebrate with you....and to have a portion of this...

for those of you who are not familiar with Athay birthday tradition, the birthday person gets an artichoke on their birthday!
weird? -yes
amazing? -double yes.

I love you so much daddy.  Happy Birthday!!!!!
xoxo

M.I.A.

so sorry folks, i have been missing in action. really. not good.

i have so many things to blog about.
here are just a few thing on my list.......maybe telling you will keep me accountable:

Christmas?
nate berkus re-do!!!
new years.
mr. larsen's 26th birthday.
valentines day.
visitors in NYC!
amazing...awesome....experiences in our favorite city.

so there. you will hear of them all. i will make myself do it.

but i started school again.
and i am still working full time.
and i have a hungry monster that always needs to be fed.
so i hope i can use my wand and transform myself into the best multitask-er EVER.
only my family will get the wand joke. :)
it's secretly not a joke..weird...anyways.

back to the hungry monster that lives with me.
i would pop in and share what we had for dinner last night......
because if i do say so myself.....it was mmm mmmmmmm good.
sorry the quality isn't great. this is an iPhone shot.

we had home made stir fry. it was scrumptious.
i was lucky enough to enlist the hungry monster to utilize his Korean roots and make the best sticky rice ever.
and the best part is....he said it tasted like his moms!

that's big news folks.
she makes uh-maze-ing stir fry.
and he compared mine to hers.
that means it tasted like authentic Asian stir fry.
WIN.

my cooking is often labeled as "white bread" cooking.
FAIL.

i am a self proclaimed kitchen master...but i usually don't get knitty gritty with national authenticity...until last night.
therefore, i am a proud chef.

this post became a lot longer than intended.
have to go.
i WILL be back soon with posts galore.

much love from NYC.

THANK YOU NATE BERKUS.

this is just a short post to thank mr. larsen's cute mom angie for writing into the nate berkus show months ago.
i wont go into detail with this specific post, but long story short:
angie wrote into the show.
they picked her email.
the producers called me.
they planned a segment over two months.
they asked us to film in the studio right before Christmas.
we filmed in the studio.
which means we were on stage...with nate berkus
nate berkus is a stone cold fox.
so is nate larsen.
he's an even stonier..colder...fox.
yeah..anyway.
we filmed in front of a huge audience.
and wore microphones attached under our shirts.
and then...
nate berkus gave us ALL NEW FURNITURE.
you read that right.
all new.
from west elm in fact.
we love it.
and feel so so so blessed.
thank you angie.
and thaaaaank youuuu nate berkus.

a more detailed description of this super cool event will come soon.
and i will post pictures of the before and after of our furniture.
our studio apartment is a cutie pie now.

p.s. if you are a nate berkus watcher...be sure you watch this upcoming tuesday, January 18th.
you will see mr. larsen and myself making complete fools of ourselves on national t.v.
:)
and you will see our furniture on t.v.
its.cute.

much love from NYC.

2011

a couple days late but....

may this year be the best yet!!!!

BUENO.

last night we went to dinner with our good friends paul & whitney davis.
i  told whit that i would blog about our dinner, because it was just THAT GOOD.
paul got a reservation weeks ago at a restaurant that mr. larsen and i had never been to.
the amazing little spot is called La Esquina and i am in love with this place.
it has such a cool NYC atmosphere, and the best, best, best food!!!!!
im not kidding.
its located on the corner and the restaurant is in the basement.
uh-may-zing!!!
i would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
but apparently a reservation is a must...and get it far in advance.
 you will not regret it.

thanks for the fun night out paul & whitney!

now it's our turn to reserve seats for four...hmm. the search begins.
